The GOP Is Doomed

The Party Of "No" is also the Party of "No Leaders", so says The Hammer.
So who does [Tom]DeLay see as the GOP's up-and-comers? "No one," he replied in exasperation. "It's all the same old guys who were in leadership with me, and those old guys aren't the leaders the party needs."
I would add, not only are they the same old out-of-touch white guys, but now they are choosing to follow the fringe Limbaugh and Beck anti-establishment talking points rather than traditional Conservative principles. They are lining up with the very people who think they are the real problem with America. I guess that message reverberates in the upside down, black-is-white world of the current GOP.

A pretty brutal and accurate assessment.

Fox News Exec Urges Staffers To Be "Fair" And "Impartial"

The definition of impossible. Would also like to know his definition of "journalist".
"As journalist, we must always be careful to cover the story without becoming part of the story." - Bill Sammon, Fox News
How detached from reality can you be?

Freethinkers Unite

Andrew Sullivan has a nice article, "The Coming Age Of The Nones", regarding the fall of religiosity in America. They are not agnostics, but they are skeptical.
"In 1990, 8 percent of Americans reported that they had no religious beliefs. Twenty years later, that's 15 percent. But when you look at younger Americans, you see that the proportion of "nones" is reaching 22 percent. The 1990s were the boom years for the Nones; and a huge 35 percent of the new Nones are ex-Catholics. No doubt, some of this is a reflection of the sex abuse crisis. But the intellectual collapse of Christianity under the leadership of Protestant fundamentalists and Catholic theocons is surely relevant. The well-deserved inability of literalists to win many converts among educated people is also surely salient. The emergence of the politicized Christianist right - and its assault on Christianity as a freely chosen spiritual process - will surely lead to a continued and accelerating flight from organized religion."
While "nones" is not the best marketing angle for freethinkers, it is great to see the idea of freedom of religion, as well as, freedom FROM religion.

Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged

Bible Quotes for the hypocritical. I'm sure there are plenty of gay marriage opponents who don't quite live up to this, but have no problem stringing together out of context Leviticus Bible passages to justify how a Government can define marriage. Separation of Church and State gets tossed aside as they wave their flags, too.
