Obama gets BP to pony up $20 billion to cover costs. An amazing move. Instead of tax payer money, the company responsible pays for the clean-up.
Rep. Joe Barton [R-TX], the ranking member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, calls it a shakedown and a "tragedy" for BP. A good ol' boy from Texas sided with Big Oil and attacks the President. What a surpise.
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has distanced himself from Barton's remarks and the Rush Limbaugh wing of the GOP. "I’m glad they’re being held accountable" were his words.
How long before Boehner is apologizing?
UPDATE: Barton retracts.
