DeLay Is A DeLiar

DeLay has to step aside as he was indicted today.. Very symbolic that the House Majority leader is a crook. And also very fitting of the "evildoing" of the Republican party. The damage is done, unfortunately. Read on:

Wednesday's indictment stems from a plan DeLay helped set in motion in 2001 to help Republicans win control of the Texas House in the 2002 elections for the first time since Reconstruction.

A state political action committee he created, Texans for a Republican Majority, was indicted earlier this month on charges of accepting corporate contributions for use in state legislative races. Texas law prohibits corporate money from being used to advocate the election or defeat of candidates; it is allowed only for administrative expenses.

With GOP control of the Texas legislature, DeLay then engineered a redistricting plan that enabled the GOP take six Texas seats in the U.S. House away from Democrats — including one lawmaker switching parties — in 2004 and build its majority in Congress.

The CEO President who is a retard and his friend Tom DeLay who will help usher out this ridiculous administration, the times they are a-changin'. That's evolution.

It's Just Too Easy

Look how the retard uses a phone. Is it any wonder we are screwed? That's probably the way he gets his updates regarding national security and his domestic agenda. I think a two year old could use a Fisher-Price phone with more success.

Bush Agenda To Reimburse Religious Groups For Katrina Aid

So this is where your tax dollars are going. When people volunteer, which I thought was for free, you now get paid if you're a faith-based group.

After weeks of prodding by Republican lawmakers and the American Red Cross, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said yesterday that it will use taxpayer money to reimburse churches and other religious organizations that have opened their doors to provide shelter, food and supplies to survivors of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

FEMA officials said it would mark the first time that the government has made large-scale payments to religious groups for helping to cope with a domestic natural disaster.

How many mosques will get paid? How many temples? What about separation of church and state? Bush will do anything to get his Jesus Freak base to support him.

Frist Stock Scandal vs. Clinton's Whitewater Scandal

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn) sold all of his, his wife, and his children's stock in a HCA, a company his father started, just two weeks before earnings were reported and the stock tanked. Insider information? Maybe, but we know Frist is a liar because he denied knowing whether he owned HCA stock in his trust, despite his trustee contacting him at least three times in 2002, informing him of transfers of HCA stock into his trust. Moreover, Senate ethics rules require the manager of a blind trust to inform the owner if all of an asset is sold which it was. The guy lied, he made money off insider trading, then lied about it again.

Think back to when Hillary and Bill Clinton were involved with Whitewater and their alledged dealings. They set up an investigation into that that lasted years and cost millions of dollars, all to get nothing. Think about Martha Stewart. They fried her in no time for lying to a prosecutor. If lying gets you jail time, I think Frist should be heading to the cooler very soon. But it won't. Republicans don't care about white collar crime. Do you think Bush's buddy Ken Lay at Enron will ever see jail time?

So Dr. Evil himself, Dick Cheney is the one, not Rumsfeld who suppressed the testimony regarding Able Danger [see previous posts]. Cheney is the most evil man I can think of. So genius of him to have the chimp distract everyone so he can screw the country behind the scenes.

Gore Won 2000 Election

President Jimmy Carter laid it out the other day at American University.

There is "no doubt in my mind that Gore won the election," the erstwhile President declared, saying the 2000 election process "failed abysmally."

Problem with Americans is that we accept lies. We were lied to about the 2000 election, we were lied to about WMD. We are so passive, it becomes unbearable to change the reality of not getting the truth. It would shock us to hear the truth.

Are We Brave, Are We Free?

The Pentagon has blocked testimony in the investigation regarding Able Danger, a program that identified Mohamed Atta, pre-9/11. Why we can't find out more information on a guy responsible for an event that the Republicans have used over and over again seems absurd. Even Arlen Specter can't believe it. What are they afraid of? We can't handle the truth? You know this is another example of shielding themselves from more blame, which would further show how much Bush and Co. screwed things up.

The Pentagon said Tuesday that it had blocked several military officers and intelligence analysts from testifying at an open Congressional hearing about a highly classified intelligence program that, the officers have said, identified a ringleader of the Sept. 11 attacks as a potential terrorist a year before the attacks.

Two military officers - an active-duty captain in the Navy and a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve - have recently said publicly that they were involved with Able Danger and that the program's analysts identified Mohamed Atta, the Egyptian-born ringleader of the Sept. 11 attacks, by name as a potential terrorist by early 2000.

The Pentagon had said that it interviewed three other people who were involved with Able Danger and who said that they, too, recalled the identification of Mr. Atta as a terrorist suspect. Mr. Specter said his staff had talked to all five of the potential witnesses and found that "credibility has been established" for all of them.

Attention Jesus Freaks

I'm sick and tired of Christians living in the Old Testament. They want the Ten Commandments in the Courts. They use words like evildoer. They cite lines like "eye for an eye", which by the way is not an entitlement but a limit as to what you can do. Why don't they pay attention to the life of Jesus and the thousands of kind acts he did, his compassion, his empathy.

These are the eight beatitudes taken from the Sermon on the Mount. This is what Jesus said.
* Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
* Blessed are the meek: for they shall posses the land.
* Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted.
* Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.
* Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
* Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.
* Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
* Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

The current state of so-called Christians does not really mirror what Jesus was all about.

Even The Comic Book Guy Knows

Newsweek will point out again how the truth of a situation was withheld from the dumb guy. He is briefed like a child because he can't handle the truth. It hurts his head. Bush has let my city's Towers be destroyed by not taking Osama seriously, and now he has let the Gulf Coast be destroyed by not taking FEMA seriously.

Both times our Nation's security have taken a backseat. Both times the Bush Administration has acted like you could not have predicted these things from happening. Their foresight is 100% wrong. On 9/11, on New Orleans, on stem cells, on global warming, on WMD, on Iraq, on Social Security, on John Bolton for the UN, and the list goes on.

This country is great because of its' citizens, not its' government. Just think if we had better leadership. Vote Blue in '06.

Mick Jagger Sounds Off, This Time Tony Blair

I know it's only Sir Mick, but it's a sign that the mainstream is catching up with the progressives regarding Iraq. For too long we accepted the lies, now we must hold them accountable. Even Mick bought the initial decision to remove Saddam Hussein from power - but was "shocked" when it was revealed a dossier detailing Hussein's possession of weapons of mass destruction was exaggerated by the British Government, reports ContactMusic .

He says, "At the time of the Iraq invasion, I was ambivalent; getting rid of Top of Saddam Hussein was a gift for humanity and I thought that there was a coherent plan to put Iraq back on its feet. (But it) shocked me to know that Blair already knew that the weapons of mass destruction were simply an excuse and that there was nothing planned for the day after (the invasion)."

Jagger also fears much for the future of Iraq - still the site of much conflict two years after Hussein's regime was toppled.

He adds, "If we do not take intelligent steps, a part of Iraq will end up becoming an Islamic republic, a puppet of Tehran."

I know right wingers have their Toby Keith and putting boots up peoples' asses, but atleast Mick has a point worth debating.

How Bush Blew It

Bureaucratic timidity. Bad phone lines. And a failure of imagination. Why the government was so slow to respond to catastrophe.

That's the first line from the Newsweek article. The line that struck me was the lack of imagination on this day of all days, September 11. It is the same thing they said about planes being used to hit buildings. The ultimate hack Condi Rice repeated over and over again the lie that no one could have imagined the hijackers using planes as bombs. Now the same goes for New Orleans. They ignore real problems all the time.

Another line from the article hit home for me:

"Bush can be petulent about dissent; he equates disagreement with disloyalty. After five years in office, he is surrounded by people who agree with him."

Now if you are not aware of this problem, that's one thing. But you can't knowingly have yes men around you, and then say you didn't know because they were afraid to tell you the truth. How evil is that? Just think how much is withheld from Bush when he's out there stumping for Social Security or Medicaid. He's fixed the numbers regarding budgets, he's fixed data regarding global warming, he has time and time again silenced the truth in favor of pushing his corporate "agenda".

Just look at Iraq. Bush accepted all the data from his yes men, started a bogus war, and then says he started the war because the facts he had at the time said there was WMD. And we all go along with it. Remember, there were millions of people who before we went to Iraq, opposed this war. We were lied to. The Bush Administration made up their story, had the only person we trusted, Colin Powell, sell it, and we now have to hold them all responsible. I wish Colin would come clean, once and far all.

The Right Wing power grab has to end. We have given in for too long and given up too much. This is not America.

Why Can't We Pick Up The Dead Bodies?

A simple question. When there are dead bodies, it always seems first and foremost, the most respectable thing to do. When 9/11 happened, they didn't leave dead bodies lying around as they searched for survivors. After Oklahoma City they did the same. Even when there are gunfights going on, it always seems they try to get the dead. The military does it.

Why is it that it takes days to pick up the bodies after Katrina? Racism is not the only answer, or classism. Do they have no place to put them? Do people not know how to pick up a dead body? Is leaving them where they are helping them find other survivors? What is the upside to not collecting them? Where's our humanity?

We pick up roadkill faster.

And as we try to bring our version of democracy to places like Iraq, these are the images that the world sees. Doesn't this undermind our troops? How can refute that our indifference and lack of planning pre- and post-disaster makes it harder for our troops to do their jobs?

Our calling card is slashing plans presented by experts, not having enough troops to do the job and letting civilians suffer, all the while protecting oil and big business.

Bush's #1 Fear Realized

No it's not Osama, it's not Al Qaeda, it's not gays getting married, it's not his massive tax cuts getting turned down, it's not his image turned to sh*t as a leader in time of crisis. Bush now has to take care of poor people. And for a sustained amount of time. Showing compassion for his fellow man, black and poor ones, too, will make his head explode. He can't walk away from this one like he did his military service. His search for WMD. He can't fade like he did for his Constitutional Amendment banning gay marriage. Or his plan to put man on Mars. No, this long term commitment to helping the lower class of the South will do him in.
